Hey, all you writers! I'm going to be a regular contributor at a new blog,
KidLit Central News, featuring children’s publishing news, reviews, entertainment and more. It will feature folks involved with children's literature in and around the Central U.S., including Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Oklahoma and Wisconsin. I'll be blogging on Friday, August 8. Check it out!

I have a question for authors of children's books: do you take requests?
I recently searched online, then stopped by a local bookstore with a great staff to try to find a very specific book. A book so specific that nothing currently exists in print addressing the issue.
I'm getting remarried (yeah!) and I wanted a book to help explain to my kids what that means. No such book exists right now that doesn't involve blending a family with another family. There are no other kids involved besides my own, so I really just wanted a book talking about what "mommy's getting married" means to them, to their soon to be step-dad and to all of us as a whole.
First of all, congratulations! This is lovely news. When?
I can't think of any books that fit your description. If it's OK with you, I'll post your request our children's writers' listserv to see if anyone else can come up with something. If not, I can see a great opportunity--although unfortunately it would be published long after you needed it.
Thanks! We're getting married at the end of May out at Allerton.
And thanks for asking around to see if anyone knows of something that would fit the bill.
Cool blog. I'm all for promoting children's literature, not all of which comes from New York.
Congrats! You're with a great group of writers.
