Good news!

I just got email from an editor in response to my query for a new picture book, Mommy's Visit to the Tattoo Parlor. She wants to buy it! Hooray!

I've posted my query letter here in case you'd like to read it.

Too bad it's not true. :)

I have the tiniest tattoo on my left shoulder blade, and my daughter (almost 6) told me the other day that it was about time I washed it off. I've told her a few times before that mine isn't that kind of tattoo. Maybe if I had a children's book, full of interesting facts and color pictures, she'd finally understand.

Oh crud. That sounds like a book I'd like to read. Write it anyway, Sara.

Wow, you had me going totally!

You definitely should pitch this book. You can include a couple of pages of temporary tattoos in the back. They can span the history of tattoos: anchors, mermaids, snakes, "Mother", Hello Kitty...

OK, you guys, you've almost got me writing that query. Be careful what you ask for.

Go for it, Sara!

A couple of Molly's hockey buddies did this for their monthly "how-to" project at school. Their dad, a neurosurgeon, had heard the kids talking about the coolness of tats. Rather than opine on their pros and cons, he enlisted a dermatologist friend of his to walk them through both processes - creation AND removal. The project/demo was really sharp (he hee) and dad got my vote for parent of the year!
